About Us
Design Thinking Initiative for Development [DTiD] is a dynamic and youth-led nonprofit organization dedicated to driving transformative change in Nigeria and beyond. Founded in 2020, we are committed to advancing innovative, evidence-based research, interventions, and project implementation. Our overarching mission is to collaborate with communities, government bodies, partners, and donors to enhance the social determinants of health through the application of design thinking principles, responsive feedback, and effective monitoring and evaluation.
Our Story
In the wake of the global response to the COVID-19 pandemic, a group of dedicated individuals came together in 2020 to formalize our commitment to making social and health interventions more human-centered and responsive to feedback. The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted a fundamental truth: the best solutions to complex problems come from putting people at the forefront of our approach. It reinforced the importance of framing issues in human-centric ways and adjusting solutions based on real-time feedback during ongoing interventions.

At DTiD, our mission is clear: We strive to enhance the social determinants of health for disadvantaged individuals and communities through innovative, evidence-based, and feedback-driven approaches. We understand the vital connection between people and their living environments, and we apply design thinking principles to test and refine solutions for maximum impact and sustainability.

Our vision is to become a globally recognized organization, known for delivering impactful and cost-effective social, health, and economic interventions in vulnerable and marginalized settings worldwide. We aim to be a beacon of evidence-driven excellence.

Focus Areas
Our main focus locations are in Northern Nigeria. Presently, our project reach extends beyond the boundaries of Abuja, Kaduna, Kano, Kebbi, and Bauchi. These regions serve as tangible proof of the meaningful impact our interventions are achieving on the ground.
